Alan Arnette


Alan Arnette has a unique intersection of purpose and passion that guides his life as a professional speaker, Alzheimer’s advocate, journalist, mountaineer and founder of Summit Coach, LLC.

His life was changed forever after caring for his mom, Ida, for three years as she went through the journey and died of Alzheimer’s Disease. 

Today with his life purpose as an Alzheimer’s Advocate combined with his passion for climbing he inspires audiences with tales of climbing Everest and how he became the oldest American to summit K2, known as the world’s most dangerous high-altitude mountain, on his 58th birthday.

Alan spent 30 years as a business executive with HP running global business with roles ranging from general management to marketing, R&D, and sales; including international assignments.

His love of mountaineering began at age 38 and now has climbed on some of the world’s highest peaks including the highest mountain on each of the 7 continents aka the 7 Summits, in under a year. Plus all 58 of his Colorado 14ers which is a surprise to friends and family in Memphis where he was born.

Alan shares his experiences with 3 million annual followers through social media channels and on his website www.alanarnette.com. He is a regular contributor to Outside Magazine, Rock and Ice and National Geographic on mountaineering subjects. He is noted by Outside Magazine as "the world's most respected chronicler of Everest.” 

His Summit Coach consulting business helps aspiring climbers effectively prepare and execute world-class expeditions.

He has reached over 55 million people and raised hundreds of thousands of much-needed funds for Alzheimer’s research with his innovative combination of climbing and Alzheimer’s advocacy.

He lives with his wife Diane in Fort Collins, Colorado.
