Himalayan Partners

These Local organizations
carry out the important job of distributing the stoves to families in Nepal.

Lo Gyalpo Jigme Foundation - In the Mustang region of Nepal, we are working with the Lo Gyalpo Jigme Foundation, the family foundation of the Raja of Mustang.

The Himalayan Trust - In the Mt Everest region, we are partnering with The Himalayan Trust (UK) which was established by Sir Edmund Hillary in the early 1960s and has built countless schools and hospitals in that region to help the Sherpas.

Community Action Nepal - (CAN) is a UK based charity whose aim is to help the mountain people of Nepal. Founded by Doug Scott CBE, one of Great Britain’s most accomplished mountaineers, with an illustrious resume of first ascents. In 1975 Doug made the first British ascent of Everest, with Dougal Haston, on an expedition led by Chris Bonington.CAN is supported by mountaineers and mountain-lovers from across the globe. CAN’s Kathmandu office and Nepali staff make their projects happen on the ground, and they have been, and continue to be, a strong and dedicated implementing partner for the Himalayan Stove Project.

The Mountain Institute - The Mountain Institute empowers communities in the world’s great mountain systems through education, conservation, and sustainable development. TMI has been supporting the environment, economy and culture of mountain populations in the Himalayas since the 1980s and has 9 programs throughout the trans-Himalayan region.

Off The Wall Trekking - A highly accomplished trekking agency run by husband and wife, Ian and Sarita. Ian has over 40 years of experience working and leading groups in challenging mountain terrain. Sarita is a nurse and is an accomplished trekker and a master in providing logistical and administrative support. They live and work in Nepal. Sarita and Ian are active, committed, participants in the Himalayan Stove Project – they originated the micro-finance program (funded by contributions to their community by stove recipients) in the village of Megere, which has become a prototype for a brilliant way to use the stove program to energize communities to greater independence and self-sufficiency.

The Gorkha Foundation -
is a grassroots organization working to improve living conditions and strengthen the economy in poor and marginalized communities in the Gorkha region of Nepal; the traditional home of the Ghurka soldiers who have distinguished themselves in many global theaters since the early 1800’s.

BlinkNow - Strive to create a sustainable organization working to educate all of Kopila’s children until they are ready to enter the world as happy, skilled, confident, self-sufficient, and English-speaking adults. We believe we can serve as a model for quality education in Nepal. We will strive to provide our children with scholarships (should they choose to pursue higher education), and the skills required to enter the workforce.

We place a huge emphasis on working together with our local community, conducting programs and providing scholarships for girls and socially vulnerable young women, thereby encouraging women’s empowerment and gender equality. We offer vocational training skills to develop self-sufficiency including sewing, cooking, gardening, husbandry, computer skills, business, and entrepreneurial skills. These skills not only benefit our home and school by providing locally grown food and locally made uniforms, but also benefit the community.
