Yale Jones


Education and Profession 
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Stanford and his juris doctor from UCLA and being admitted to the California Bar in 1966, Yale served in the United States Peace Corps in Kenya for two years. In 1970 he entered the private practice of law in San Francisco with Bill Donohoe, and together they founded the firm that today is Jones, Clifford. He was a certified specialist in workers’ compensation law, is the former chairman of the California Board of Legal Specialization and prior to that was the chairman of its Workers Compensation Advisory Commission. He taught numerous continuing education courses for attorneys, was the author of the chapters on preparation for trial and trial of a worker’s compensation case in “California Workers Compensation Practice, 4th Edition,” and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America. He retired from the firm on December 31, 2004 and moved to Taos, New Mexico with his wife, Barbara “Shanti” Jones. Yale has been privileged to go on seven treks in the Nepal Himalayas.

Community Service
Yale has served on the boards or advisory boards of a number of local non-profit organizations since moving to Taos. Additionally, he was a board member of the Nepal Youth Foundation for over a decade, until 2012. For ten years Yale has been a “Big Brother” to a now 18-year-old young man through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico. He currently is the community representative on the Taos County Adult Drug Court Team and volunteers bi-weekly at Shared Table, a service that provides food to the needy in Taos County. He is an active member of the Taos Milagro Rotary Club and holds a leadership position in Rotary District 5520, which includes all of New Mexico and parts of West Texas.
